The interviewer is trying to understand your motivations for making a career switch and your comfort level where you may have less responsibility then you did in the past or you may be reporting to some who you might think as lesser qualified.

1) Discuss your reasons for choosing a new career direction and demonstrate a willingness to learn and to adapt.
2) Indicate the new experiences that you look forward to in this new job.
3) Indicate the reasons why you are now uniquely suited for this position
4) Point out similarities to some of your past jobs which you have done well

Someone who has held jobs for short periods would need to explain for the actions. The prospective employer will want to know your reason for the job changes. Be honest with your reasons but do not
sound too negative.

Common reasons for job changes after a short while includes the following:

1) Company/Department seems unstable be it in terms of organization or financials
2) Job scope was totally different from what was mentioned during the interview.
3) Do make it a point not to sound negative about the company and avoid highlighting trivial or small issues. Do not come across as being unable to adapt to the company.
